What is wrong with that picture?

I love the vibrant color of the picture on the left. It was created by a very talented local fifth grader~ here in Eau Claire. The youngster was learning about art styles similar to that of French painters who were widely discriminated against in the 1800s for their lack of regard for "the way things are supposed to look."

In some ways the painting is a metaphor for our trip to the nation's capital. By that I mean we are preparing for our visit as though we are heading for a 3rd world country!! How sad it is that ours is a country of such great wealth and yet has such pockets of poverty ~ not at all "the way things are supposed to be."
